Greater Florence Habitat for Humanity “Cinco de Mayo” Chihuahua Race/Costume Contest RULES AND REGULATIONS Competing race dogs must be a full-blooded Chihuahua or Chihuahua mix. Your dog DOES NOT have to be AKA or AKC registered/certified. Please bring your dog’s shot records that indicate “Chihuahua” or “Chihuahua mix” breed. Race judges have the right to disqualify any dogs. All race dogs must have a current rabies vaccine. Please bring verification with you on race day. You may register more than one dog. A registration form must be submitted for each racer. Races are divided into groups determined by the race judges. You may bring your dog’s favorite toy; however, no toy may be longer than 8 inches. Blankets or large distracting objects are not permitted at the finish line. No food (human or dog) is permitted in the race track area. Only dogs entered to race are permitted in the race track area. Only two people per dog are permitted in the race track area. Only one person is permitted at the start line, one person is permitted at the finish line. All race dogs must be on the ground and behind the start line when released for the race You are not permitted to launch your dog from your arms. If you do so, your dog will be disqualified. All dogs must be leashed when not racing. Owners must clean up after your dog. Dogs must display his/her best behavior. Any dog showing aggression or fighting will be asked to leave and may not be permitted to race. Owner must be in control of your dog at all times. Do not leave dogs unattended for any reason. The racetrack length will be determined. Dogs will race in a fenced in area off leash. This is a rain or shine event. The first Chihuahua race begins at 6:30pm. Races run back-to-back. Prizes are awarded for a first through third place finish.
